Jacqueline Maurer (born 1984 in Aarau, Switzerland) is a scholar and film critic. In her research, she examines interrelations between film, architecture, urbanism, and landscape.
Jacqueline studied art history and German philology at the University of Basel (Switzerland) and at University College London (United Kingdom). In 2021, she received her PhD from the Department of Film Studies at the University of Zurich. While working on her dissertation, she was a research fellow at various institutions, including La Fémis – École Nationale Supérieure des Métiers de l’Image et du Son in Paris (France), the German Center for Art History in Paris (France), and the Department of Media, Culture and Language at the University of Roehampton in London (United Kingdom).
Since August 2023, Jacqueline has been a resident at the Istituto Svizzero di Roma (Italy). She is currently working on her postdoc-project tentatively titled Italienische Landschaften als spezifische und universelle Erzählräume im Gegenwartskino (Italian Landscapes as Particular and Universal Narrative Spaces in Contemporary Cinema)
