The Collegium Helveticum based in the Semper-Observatory at the Schmelzbergstrasse 25, in Zurich is jointly sponsored by the University of Zurich and the ETH Zurich. It is organisationally associated to the ETH Zurich and administratively subordinate to the Rector of the ETH Zurich.
A curatorship acts as a supervisory body and consists of the Rectors of the University of Zurich and of the ETH Zurich as well as of one additional person appointed by the Rectors. At the moment Prof. Dr. Andreas Fischer, Prof. Dr. Heidi Wunderli-Allenspach and Prof. Dr. Denis Monard have officiated as members of the curatorship.
Director of the Collegium Helveticum is a full professor of the University of Zurich or of the ETH Zurich. Prof. Dr. Gerd Folkers has fulfilled this function since the first of October 2004, elected for a period of five years. A reelection is possible. Prof. Dr. Johannes Fehr acts as Deputy Head of Chair.
The University of Zurich and the ETH Zurich both delegate three fellows to the Collegium Helveticum who are elected by the curatorship. Their tasks involve among other things the initiation and realisation of research projects as well as the supervision of young scientists at the Collegium Helveticum. They are organisationally subordinate to the Chairman of the Collegium. The new period of fellows will start on October 2009 with Prof. Dr. Kay Axhausen, Prof. Dr. Andrea Büchler, Prof. Dr. Alex Eberle, Prof. Dr. Andreas Pospischil, Prof. Dr. Wulf Rössler, Prof. Dr. August Schubiger, Prof. Dr. Angelika Steger.
As of the beginning of the winter term 09/10 a new joint research project will be established by the direction of the Collegium Helveticum and by the fellows. In addition, there are associated fellows of several fields of sciences (Dr. Harald Atmanspacher, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Gessner, Prof. Dr. Horst Hildebrandt) involved in the project as well as young researchers writing their dissertation in this context.
